Stan Musial Game Used Bat (34")
This game-used Stan Musial bat from '63 packs a double punch. It's not only a grade-A piece of The Man's lumber -- always a collector's priority -- but one used in the last of his 22 splendiferous seasons. And it carries two Musial signatures on the barrel! The bat instantly fills the mind with the image of Musial holding it ramrod straight in the batter's box, his feet in that famous pigeon-toed stance, his knees bending his body into a crouch. No one ever swung a bat as gracefully as he did, and few ever equalled his .331 lifetime average, 475 homers and 3 MVP awards. And nobody ever hit .330 at age 41, as he did in '62. It's just too bad he couldn't hang on one more year, as the Cards won it all in '64. The 34" Louisville Slugger "M159" personal model is a lovely caramel brown shade and is in fabulous display condition with just a few nicks, scrapes, ball marks and other residue. One signature is in blue marker and rates NRMT status; the other is G-VG and part of an inscription in brown marker that has partially eroded, though his name, "Best Wishes" and the year "63" are both eminently clear. The Pride of Donora is probably the only player to ever turn down a salary increase because he thought it was too much. Now that's a hero.
