Straight Deal - 1967 Delaware Handicap Winner's Gold Trophy Bowl (40 Ounces of 14k Gold)
<p>Extraordinarily designed 14k gold bowl. Beautiful landscape artwork with two horses engraved on the outside of the bowl. The inscription reads "The Delaware Handicap, Won by, Straight Deal, B.M. 5 Hail To Reason - No Fiddling by Nat King Cole, Owned by Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs, Bred by Beiber-Jacobs Stable, 1 1/4 Miles, Time 2:02 1/5, Trainer - John W. Jacobs, Rider - Robert Ussery, July 29 1967." Stamped "14k" [gold] underneath. There is also a jockey figure on the bowl wearing orange and green skills. Straight Deal is inbred 5x4 to Teddy. She is a half sister to Miz Carol (by Stymie) and dam of 1966 American champion 2-year-old filly Regal Gleam (by Hail to Reason). Originally sold in the 2008 Christie's Important American Silver sale featuring the estate of Hall of Fame horse racing owner and trainer Hirsch Jacobs. The weight of this trophy is 1162 grams.</p><p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Sourcing straight from the private collection of a world-renowned thoroughbred breeder comes a wonderful offering of nearly 40 horse racing trophies that Lelands is honored to feature in the 2019 Fall Classic. Originally purchased from the 2008 Christie’s Silver Auction, these trophies source from the estate of Ethel and Hirsch Jacobs. We have devoted an entire category to this collection in which collectors will have many chances to own some of the earliest horse racing trophies to be offered publicly. Most of the trophies span back to 1950s-60s and include Hall of Fame horses such as Stymie, Searching and Affectionately.</span></p>
