"Summer Bird" 2009 Belmont Stakes Trophy
One of the true crowns of horse racing memorabilia is this actual 2009 Belmont Stakes winner’s trophy presented to Tim A. Ice, trainer of the fabulous Summer Bird. In resplendent sterling silver, it is engraved: “Won by Kalarikkal K. & Vilasini D. Jayaraman’s, Summer Bird, Trainer: Tim A. Ice, Jockey: Kent J. Desormeaux” on one side and “The Belmont Stakes, NYRA, Belmont, June 6, 2009” on the other. Measures a significant 10.5” high and sports three period horses on bottom and one atop lid. A masterful and unique design, it is a pleasure to behold. In overall excellent condition. Summer Bird was one of the great equine athletes of his time, sadly passing away in 2014.
