"Sweeney" Schriner Signed Index Card (PSA)
Offered is a 3x5" index card with the signature of NHL hockey forward David "Sweeney" Schriner, a Russian-born Canadian left wing who played in the NHL for 11 years. Schriner played his first five seasons with the New York Americans (1934-35 through 1934-38) and his last six seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs (1939-40 through 1944-45, with the exception of the 1942-43 and 1943-44 seasons when he did not play in the NHL). Schriner was the NHL Rookie of the Year in 1934-35, and he won two Stanley Cups with with Toronto, in 1941-42 and 1944-45. He led the NHL in points in both the 1934-35 and 1935-36 seasons. In his 11 season NHL career, Schriner played in 484 games, scoring 201 goals and adding 205 assists for 407 points. He got the nickname Sweeney because a semipro baseball player named Sweeney was a hero to Schriner when he was growing up and he wound up being called by the same name. Sweeney Schriner is thought by many to be the first Russian-born player to play in the NHL. Schriner has single-signed a 3x5" lined index card. His neat and large signature was written in blue ink from a ballpoint pen. The signed index card has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as "AUTHENTIC AUTO."
