Ted Williams Hall of Fame "1966" Single-Signed Baseball (PSA & JSA)

Ted Williams Hall of Fame "1966" Single-Signed Baseball (PSA & JSA)

Ted Williams once said that his only ambition in life was to walk down the street and have someone say, "There goes the greatest hitter who ever lived." Some people feel that Williams was indeed the greatest hitter who ever lived, some would pick someone else, but almost all would agree that in discussing the greatest hitter who ever lived that Ted Williams was definitely in the conversation. Presented is a Ted Williams single-signed baseball from 1966, the year that Williams was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The amazing "Splendid Splinter" once said that he probably swung a bat more than anyone who ever lived. Williams was so obsessed with hitting that as a youngster he would carry a sawed-off broomstick on his walk to grammar school and swing at the berries on trees and bushes to practice his hand-eye coordination. Williams hit .344 lifetime in a career, all with the Boston Red Sox (1939-42 & 1946-60) that was interrupted by two tours of war-time duty as a marine pilot. He served both in World War II (from 1943-45) and in the Korean Conflict, in most of the 1952-53 seasons. Despite missing almost five seasons worth of play because of his military service, the wonderful "Teddy Ballgame" hit 521 home runs, won six AL batting crowns, was a 2-time AL MVP and a 2-time Triple Crown winner. His phenomenal feat of batting .406 in 1941 makes him the last man to hit .400 in the Major Leagues. Williams signed a Rawlings Official American League Ball (Brown), signing on the sweet spot, as "Ted Williams" and adding a "1966" inscription, both written with a ballpoint pen in blue ink. The Williams' signature and inscription are beautifully scripted. The signed baseball comes with a JSA LOA, cert. #B54338. The signed and inscribed ball from Williams' Hall of Fame induction year is a memorable find for any collector.
