The Big Dance of 1960 Poster
This out-of-this-world boxing-style concert poster was discovered with the Dinah Washington poster also in this auction. It features Count Basie and his 17-piece orchestra and the Great Joe Williams. “The World Greatest Jazz Orchestra” with the inimitable “Count Basie All Stars” and the following names inside stars: Joe Newman, Frank Foster, Thad Jones, Frank Wess, Billy Mitchell, Sonny Payne and Freddy Green. The concert was held Friday, January 15, 1960 at the 20 Grand Gold Room in Detroit. The 22x28" poster is in EX condition. To top it all off, this was a gritty gig, as the poster reads “Minimum Age 17.”
