The Brooklyn Bum & Duke Snider Original Artwork by Hubenthal & Amelia (2)
Fantastic pair of original Brooklyn Dodgers pen & charcoal drawings rendered by two great American cartoonists. The first, by Karl Hubenthal shows the Brooklyn Bum hiking down the railroad tracks with sack labeled, “Purchase of Wrigley Field” and wearing an Angel’s halo. He proclaims, “California, Here I come!” Measures 14x17”. This was done right after the announcement of the Los Angeles purchase. It has a handwritten note and signature from Hubenthal himself at bottom, stating when and why he created the drawing. The second, by Leo Amelia is the popular Duke Snider, holding oversized baseball bat with “16 homer” printed on the barrel. Brooklyn Bum in background, clinging to “Duke’s Place” street sign with Amelia’s signature lion character below. Signed in blue ballpoint by Snider at bottom. Artwork is EX.
