The DiMaggio Brothers Signed Display

The DiMaggio Brothers Signed Display

There have been over 350 sets of brothers in the Major Leagues, and the three DiMaggio brothers comprise the only set of three brothers in which each brother has been a Major League All-Star. Presented is a signed display by the three DiMaggio brothers. Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio played 13 seasons in the Major Leagues, all as a center fielder with the New York Yankees. Joe was a 13-time All-Star, a 3-time American league MVP, an amazing winner of nine World Series, and a 2-time batting champion. Joltin' Joe hit .325 lifetime, with 361 homers. Joe is most famous for his all-time best 56-game hitting streak in 1941. Dom DiMaggio was also a center fielder, and he played his entire 11-year career with the Boston Red Sox. Dom was a superior fielder and he was a 7-time All-Star who hit .298 lifetime. Both Joe and Dom DiMaggio missed three seasons while they were in the U.S. Military in World War II. Vince DiMaggio was a 2-time All-Star. He played his entire Major League career in the National League, and he was on the Boston Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, and the New York Giants. He had good speed and was known for a strong outfield arm. He had some power, hitting 125 home runs. His weakness was striking out. He led the National League in strikeouts in six of his ten seasons. The overall display measures 16x28". At the center of the display is a 7x9" black and white signed photo of the three DiMaggio brothers. Viewing the photo, Joe is on the left in his Yankee uniform, Dom is in the center in his Red Sox uniform, and Vince is on the right, in his Boston Braves uniform. Each of the brothers signed the photo in 8-9/10 signatures in blue ink from a fine-tipped marker. Also included in the display are three 3.5x6.25" envelopes. The top left front of each envelope reads, "Connecticut Yankee VII, Windsor Locks, CT." The left side of each envelope has a color artist's image of the three DiMaggio brothers, in their later years, as in the photo. The envelopes have been cancelled, with the postmarks reading "Oct. 4, 1986." The DiMaggio images on the envelopes show the name of Z Rini, the artist. The signed display makes an unusual remembrance of the famous DiMaggio brothers.
