The First Reading of the Emancipation Proclamation Before the Cabinet (1866)

The First Reading of the Emancipation Proclamation Before the Cabinet (1866)

Spectacular steel engraving of Abraham Lincoln and his cabinet is a print lover's dream. It is subtitled, "From The Original Picture Painted At The White House in 1864." Below it is dated "1866" with the name of the New York publisher E.B. Carpenter. The detail is striking. Lincoln looks supremely presidential and the cabinet is at his liege. The engraving is signed by A.H. Ritchie, a true genius. Print is dirty but could be easily cleaned and would then sell for at least $2,000 in that condition if you could find one. Original walnut & gold leaf frame is gorgeous, measures overall 31x41".
