The Last Days of Robert F. Kennedy Original Negatives (170+ images)

The Last Days of Robert F. Kennedy Original Negatives (170+ images)

Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on June 5, 1968 at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, less than five years after his older brother, John, met the same fate while president. This important collection of negatives include images taken up to two days before his death, as the senator from New York was stumping for the California Primary in San Francisco. The images are from May 18 to June 3, 1968 and include shots at the podium, pressing the flesh, arriving by plane, touring by car and waving to adoring crowds at rallies. The shots were taken by a photographer from the San Francisco Examiner and are housed in nine small envelopes with original description slips inside. This important lot depicts an icon of the Democratic Party at the peak of his popularity, and is all the more depressing considering his ultimate demise.
