The William Hinchman Archive of Signed Baseball Letters (41)
William Hinchman was a baseball aficionado who aspired to become a scout, a fact referenced in many of these letters - as can be seen in this group of over 40 letters, he was quite persistent. All are typed, spanning from the 1930s to early 40s, and most are hand-signed by the team representative, many being future Hall of Famers. Please note that two of the Branch Rickey letters have secretarial signatures. All are on official team stationary. Interestingly, on the 1936 Boston Braves letterhead, "George Herman Ruth" is listed at the top as Assistant Manager but has been crossed out! Letters have typical mailing folds and signatures in ink average 8/10.
