Ticket Box from Polo Grounds
Originally used at the Polo Grounds where the New York Mets played their home games during the first two years of their existence, this metal ticket box was procured from the Shea Stadium auction after that ballpark was closed. This ticket box was apparently brought over to Shea from the Polo Grounds during the Mets' move to their new ballpark in 1964. The box appears to date from the 1950's; it stands approximately 28" high and measures 10" square with two slots on the top, which opens on a hinge. There is a leather handle below the latch; the latch has been replaced but everything else appears original. This interesting collectible has an MLB hologram.
