Time #v46 #20 November 12, 1945 Junior Davis & Doc Blanchard CGC 5.0
They were "Mister Inside" and "Mister Outside," Doc Blanchard and Glenn "Junior" Davis, the most famous pair of running backs in college football history. As the Four Horseman of Notre Dame rank as the most noted backfield of all-time, the "Touchdown Twins" of Army was the most famous college duo. Presented is Time magazine, dated November 12, 1945, with prescient knowledge, depicting the next two Heisman Trophy winners. Blanchard, a fullback, won the Heisman Trophy in that 1945 season, and Davis, a halfback, won the Heisman in the following season. The team at the United States Military at West Point, the Black Knights of the Hudson, was an incredible powerhouse in the middle 1940s. From 1944-1946, Army went 27-0-1, and won three National Championships. While at Army, Blanchard rushed for 1,908 yards and 38 touchdowns. Davis ran for nearly 3,000 yards, scored 59 touchdowns, had 850 yards receiving and even passed for 1,172 yards. The magazine has been encapsulated and graded CGC 5.0. The magazine offers vintage view of World War II era football at West Point, and fine recognition for the Army's nationally admired superstars, Blanchard and Davis. The colorized cover photo is a visually pleasing work of art in itself.
