That was Lawn Tennis at the turn of the century and this is the stunningly preserved accouterment of that lifestyle. A complete Lawn Tennis set (EX) with rackets, net and four posts is entirely intact in its handsome original 39- by 12-inch wood box. Just smelling the wood rackets makes you want to put on your Victorian best and play. Wimbledon and the improvement of a vulcanized rubber ball was making tennis more competitive for both men and women, but any Lawn Tennis set taken home was probably for a weekend romp.
