Two 1985 'Spend A Buck' Original Drawings by PEB (2)

Creatively blended, horse racing and beach activities combine in these framed and matted watercolor prints that feature 1985 Kentucky Derby winner Spend A Buck. The first depicts trainer Cam Gambolati and owner Dennis Diaz sleeping on the beach under an umbrella. The piece refers to the $300,000 Monmouth Handicap and is signed by PEB and dated "85." Measures 31x23." The second of his watercolor pieces depicting Diaz and Gambolati situated at the base of a beanstalk with money growing from it. A "Jersey Derby" adorns the very top and Diaz queries: "Where does our 'buck' stop?" a reference to the amount of money made by skipping the Triple Crown in 1985 and going after the bonuses offered at Garden State Park. Framed and matted, the piece measures 20x30" in its frame. It is also signed by PEB with date of "85."
