Ty Cobb Signed Color Image (PSA)
"When I played ball, I didn't play for fun," said Ty Cobb. "It's no pink tea, and mollycoddles better stay out. It's a contest and everything that implies, a struggle for supremacy, a survival of the fittest." As the foregoing quote indicates, Ty Cobb played baseball almost as if it were war. Offered is a die cut signed image of Cobb. This most competitive of men once held the Major League records for stolen bases (897) and for hits (4,189). Cobb won 12 batting titles, and his lifetime batting average of .366 is the highest in MLB history. Cobb played 24 seasons in the Major Leagues (1905-28), all with the Detroit Tigers, except for his final two seasons, with the Philadelphia Athletics. He was also a player-manager for Detroit. The die-cut, color image (with Cobb in a Detroit Tigers uniform) measures approx. 3.7x4.3". The Cobb image shows him running, arms akimbo, perhaps almost ready to launch himself into one of his powerful slides. The die-cut image is from a magazine. Cobb signed "Ty Cobb" in neatly written blue ink, his favorite color ink. The image has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO. The image is in excellent condition, and it depicts an intense Cobb at his competitive best.
