Tyson's First Boxer-Manager Contract (1984)
On September 28, 1984, Mike Tyson entered into his first professional boxing contract which is offered here. This two-page agreement is boldly signed in ink on the second page by Mike Tyson, his manager Jimmy Jacobs and his trainer and mentor Cus D'Amato, who was given final say over boxing matters. Jacobs, along with Bill Cayton and Steve Lott, would guide Tyson through his early professional days leading to his winning the world heavyweight title. Jacobs was granted 33 1/3% of Tyson's earnings in exchange for his work. In later years Tyson would refer to this first contract as a "slave" contract. An exceptionally rare document from Tyson's early professional career signed by the men who guided that early career. Letter size. Clean. EX+.
