Unique 1940 Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers World Series Team-Signed Bat
This truly special offering is a bat signed by the contestants of the 1940 World Series, the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers. On the outside it appears as a Rip Radcliff game used Hillerich and Bradsby bat mounted on a wood plaque, but the bat is actually sliced down the middle with two hinges on the halves. When the bat is "opened" it reveals the signatures of the two teams with 50 autographs in all. The Reds squad is highlighted by Lombardi, Vander Meer, Mike and Frank McCormick, Walters and more, while the Tigers side features Rowe, Gehringer, Greenberg, Averill York, Newhouser and more. The signatures average 6-7/10, all in fountain ink. This is a unique and quite historical item.
