Legendary 1950-51 (and final) edition of “Album de Toleteros”, with blank spaces for the allotted 180 cards of both local and Negro League players in the Puerto Rican Winter League. This album is most noteworthy for the magical space numbered “60” on Page 4-A -- where the posthumous card of Josh Gibson (the incredibly rare “Black Wagner” featured in the previous Lelands auction) was to be mounted. These albums are a great echo of “besibol” in the tropics and have become a priority item for collectors with the cards mounted. And yet even an empty “Toleteros” has that magical quality. Album is G-VG with burn marks on the cover, serating on the right side of the cover and pages (all intact as is spine), and a hole on the back cover -- signs of noble age. Great insert listing the team rosters, as well. Approx. 9.25 x 12”.
