Vintage Baseball Collection (5) Including Walter Johnson Signed Ball
This amazing assortment of early 20th Century memorabilia is highlighted by a set of game used balls signed in 1929. The first OAL ball is inscribed, "July 5 1929-Olean N.Y.-Washington Ame." and autographed by HOF'er Walter Johnson, Bump Hadley, Ed Gharrity, Sam West, Myles Thomas, Ad Liska, Jack Hayes, Roy Spencer, Paul McCullough, Haley Boss, Bob Burke, Red Barnes, Goose Goslin, Al Schacht, and Clyde Milnis (15 total). The second OAL specimen, inscribed "July 5 1929-Brooklyn Nat.-Olean N.Y.", is signed by ten Robins including: Rhiel, Gilbert, Dudley, Henline, Moore, Fredricks, Ballou, E. Moore, Bressler, Moss, and Koupai. The final ball, also an Official American League example, carries the inscription, "May 31 1929-NY Giants-Olean NY" and autographs by: Kaufmann, Judd, Shanty Hogan, Fullis, and Welsh. The ink on each has remained surprisingly strong and entirely legible, grading an overall "7" out of possible "10". The balls themselves though have toned with the passage of time and as such exist in VG-VG-EX condition. The final two pieces of the collection contain a rare copy of "The Book of Baseball-The National Game From The Earliest Days To The Present Season" copyright 1911, published by P.F. Collier & Son. Filled with fantastic photos and illustrations of the game's early stars. Good-VG. And a "Campy The Tramp" squeaky (6") by Rempel, VG.
