Vintage Boxing w/Sullivan-Kilrain Advertisement (200+)

Attractive boxing potpourri, lots of cards and posters, a treat for the boxing aficionado, running the gamut from Sullivan versus Kilrain to Ali versus Frazier. 1) Colorful advertising promotional depiction of the "Illegal" John L. Sullivan versus Jake Kilrain Heavyweight Championship fight in Richburg, Mississippi in 1889. Produced by Cosgraves Scotch Ale, (framed at 14x15"), it also contains brief bios on the fighters. Bare-knuckle fighting was illegal in 38 states, including Mississippi, and the fight was held in relative secrecy with thousands boarding trains to an unknown destination. Lasting a "mere" 75 rounds, Sullivan prevailed. This was the last championship fight under the London rules - which permitted shoving and "throwing." Later, both fighters were arrested, but escaped any major punishment. 2) Second Louis versus Schmeling title fight poster (framed at 23.5x29.5") featuring 48 separate (2.75x3.25") sequential action photos leading up to and including the third and final knockdown of Schmeling. 3) Promotional poster for Louis versus Schmeling Heavyweight Championship fight at Yankee Stadium on June 22, 1938, in which Louis won by a TKO in the first round. (6x12" framed). 4) Set of Ringlords Boxing cards (2), 40 cards per set, includes Ali, Holyfield, Duran, Hearns, and others. 5) Additional Ringlords cards (11), includes Foreman, Holyfield (2). 6) Complete set of Boxing Champions cards, by Victoria Galley, London (20). Includes: Tyson, Holyfield, Holmes, Foreman, Ali, Liston, Marciano, etc. Wall calendar, for 1982, featuring photos of each World Heavyweight Champion up through 1978, from John L. Sullivan through Leon Spinks. (24.5x45"). 7) 1982 Pictorial History of Italian-American World Champs. Photos on paper poster (13.5x17.5"), small tear and wrinkles. 8) Complete set of 80 boxing caricature mini-cards (1.75x2.75"). Promotional cards from W.R. Priddy Antiques. Includes Ali, Dempsey, many British fighters. Cards are unique. 9) Colo, 1789.r plate prints (2): Match between Richard Humphreys and Daniel Mendoza, Oldham, New Hampshire, Jan. 9th, 1778, and Tom Johnson and Isaac Perrins fought at Banbury, Oct. 22. 10) Advertisement for movie of Louis versus Carnera fight (6x12") frame (11x14"). 11) Circa 1951 cloth flag (14x16"), "Boxing's Famous Champions," promotional item from Carstairs Whiskey, portrays champs from 1882 through 1951.
