Vintage Tobacco Cardboard Advertising Collection (11)
Outstanding collection of vintage and unique tobacco advertising. This rare assortment of advertising features 6 different tobacco manufacturers on various materials. Lot includes1) Sweet Caporal Cigarettes Advertising Sign. This advertising piece features the same cigarette package that held the famous T206 cards. There is an image of a "Clown Girl" and reads "SWEET CAPORAL CIGARETTES" and "Standard For Years." Framed in a heavy wood frame that was made exclusively for Sweat Caporal and even has the words "SWEAT CAPORAL CIGARETTES" pressed into the wood frame on the bottom. 21.5x32". Great piece.2) Early 1900's Capstan Cigarettes British advertising sign. Porcelain on metal with bright colors and tremendous image of "Navy Cut Cigarettes." 17x36". Some chips and loss on edges, but still has a great appearance.3) St. Julien Tobacco advertising sign. Porcelain on metal, with outstanding bright colors. Sign reads "St. Julien Empire Blend" and "Ogden's Exquisite Cool and Fragrant." Attached to wood on the edges. Some chipping is present, but still looks great. 24x364) Dukes Mixture "Best Selling Smoking Tobacco In The World." Handmade, all wood construction. Quite weathered, but has a real "folk art" feel. Very fragile. 8.5x25.5".5) Spud Cigarettes advertising piece. All cardboard construction. Interesting "throw away" piece, made to look like a picture in a wood frame. Features an image of a happy, attractive young lady and a puppy, plus an image of pack. reads "Can't help loving them." 24x31".6) Twenty Grand "Thoroughbreds" cigarettes advertising piece. All cardboard construction "throw away" piece made to look like a picture in wood frame. Features a beautiful picture of a thoroughbred race horse and an image of a cigarette pack. 24x31".7) Rosemont Mild Havana Cigar advertising tri-fold sign. On heavy cardboard with beautiful artwork. Features attractive young women and a beautiful mansion. Reads "With a fragrance all its own." Hinged with string and stands on the counter around the cigars. Great point of purchase advertising piece. 32x35". Some water damage.8) Edgeworth "Americas Finest Pipe Tobacco" sign. On heavy cardboard, this advertising piece features an American GI holding two puppies and smoking a pipe. Once had outstanding colors, but suffers from water damage and some loss. 21x32".9) (2) Egyptienne "Straights" Cigarettes signs. On heavy cardboard, these red background signs feature and image of a young woman wearing a bonnet. Some damage. 21x31." 10) Beech-Nut smoking and Chewing Tobacco tri-fold cardboard display. Bright colors and features automobiles, warships and two guys sharing a smoke and a chew. Some water damage and heavy staining on the back. 31 x 52" overall. 11) Edgeworth "The Aristocrat of Smoking Tobaccos" cardboard advertising piece. Features two gentlemen laughing and admiring all of the styles of tobacco offered. Poor condition, this piece has loss and has been glued to another piece of cardboard to strengthen. 27x43" overall.
