Volponi Meadowlands Cup Runner-Up Race Worn Saddle Cloth

Volponi Meadowlands Cup Runner-Up Race Worn Saddle Cloth

A winner of over $3 million in earnings, Volponi recorded the most important win of his career in 2002 when he took America's richest horse race, the Breeders Cup Classic, by six-and-a-half lengths - the largest margin in the race's history. In winning the Classic, Volponi overcame odds of 44-to-1 to beat an outstanding field that included runner-up Medaglia D'Oro, War Emblem, Harlan's Holiday, Evening Attire and Macho Uno. In 2003, he made eight starts without a win but had five seconds and two third-place finishes. This white cloth with red #4 and blue lettering is from his second-place finish in the 2002 Meadlowlands Cup and exhibits plenty of great wear.
