War Admiral 1938 Aqueduct Original Art

War Admiral 1938 Aqueduct Original Art

Famed New York area cartoonist Burris Jenkins drew this pencil-on-artist's-board litho that appeared on the sports page of the New York Journal American in 1938 and refers to sportswriter Bill Corum and War Admiral's "Old Man" who was "Man o' War." War Admiral ran in the 1938 Queens County Handicap, which began in 1902 and continues to this day. Measuring roughly 17" x 22", the piece manifests a clipped corner and some edge wear. It comes with an LOA from the family of sportswriter Burt Sugar, as this originated from his collection.
