Believed to be from the Paul Thompson Agency (though this particular picture lacks his copyright stamp), the myriad of lines etching the legendary Dodger manager's face is like a road map of early baseball, which he lived with the 19th Century Baltimore Orioles and as John McGraw's pitching coach (and business partner in pool halls) with the New York Giants. A long scar on his left cheek from those rough and tumble days with the O's but also an instinctive grin and sparkling eyes attest to his good nature.
