Willard Mullin Original Full Color Painting

Willard Mullin Original Full Color Painting

Gouache on artist’s board is one of the finest Mullin’s known. Full color presentation piece to his funeral director friend, Walter Cooke. The Brooklyn Bum is being measured for his coffin by the lanky Frankenstein-looking genet. The Bum is exclaiming, “Nothin’ Fancy…Somethin’ in Pine Or Maybe Yez Could Jus’ Leave Me Have a Old Packing Case…Line It Wit Gunny Sack… An’ Th’ Fittin’s Cn’ Be Brass.” “Walter Cooke is the name stenciled on the door with “Leave Us Lay You Out” below. Signed at bottom right by Willard Mullin the greatest of all American sports cartoonists. "Color" Mullin works of art are few and far between and this is about as nice as you can get. Stunning illustration (EX-MT) is 13x13” itself, and in its original frame.
