(10) Abe Lincoln's Youth memorial park photos 1930's In 1932, William Randolph Hearst chose to save Abe Lincoln's early home of Old Salem, IL from obliteration, restoring it as a commemoration to the early life of the Emancipation President and gift to the public. These (10) news service photos show the restoration of the Old Salem and opening ceremonies attended by Civil War veterans and personal friends of the martyred president. (4) Images are 6.5 x 8.5" press release photos printed on paper with original caption sheets affixed to versos (EX-NM). The remaining (6) are printed on photo paper and range in size from 6.5 x 8.5" to 7.5 x 11" (EX-MT).
