(100+) Early Baseball Signatures and Ephemera from Halper Collection
Fascinating collection of 100+ items relating to early professional baseball originating from the collection of Barry Halper. Compiled in plastic sleeves and stored in a three ring binder, the contents include old timer autographs, Western Union Telegrams (1920's) relating to league business, hall of fame plaque postcards, picture postcards, stock receipts (from 1910's) for team shares and more. A good portion of the collection is devoted to Yankee, Marty McHale, who appears to have been the original owner of some of these autographs. Beautiful 8x10 portraits and other photos of McHale-signed and not-as well as articles and letters from him that include memories of his time in the league playing alongside such luminaries as Tris Speaker and Ty Cobb. Other signatures include: Duffy Lewis, George Davis, Ernie Shore, Stan Coveleski, Elmer Smith, Ray Fisher, Bill Dickey, Lute Boone, Waite Hoyt, Fred Heimach, Andrew O'Connor, Norman McMillian, Mark Koening, "Joe" Dugan, Eddie Wells, Carroll Brown, Tom Sheehan, Frank Nekola and more. There are surely gems to be found here.
