(1778-1860) Artist Rembrandt Peale Handwritten Letter w/George Washington Content (PSA)
<p>Rembrandt Peale (February 22, 1778 – October 3, 1860) was an American artist and museum keeper. A prolific portrait painter, he was especially acclaimed for his likenesses of presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Peale's style was influenced by French Neoclassicism after a stay in Paris in his early thirties. Featured here is a unique letter from Rembrandt in which he refers to his Washington portraits. To a Mr. Drake,"thank you for your very kind & polite letter…informing me that three of your Directors were desirous of obtaining each a Washington…I have two." Measures 5.25x8.25" and is tri-folded with a small crease on bottom right corner. Dated December 3, 1852, and is a one and a half page letter in the hand of Rembrandt. One physical page, written on front and back. 9/10 signature at end of letter. Comes certified by PSA.</p>
