1/1/2001 Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Lakers Signed Game Worn Kobe II Sneakers and Wristband from Lakers Championship Season - 39 Point Victory! (Photo-Matched, Ball Boy LOA & JSA)
Amazing pair of sneakers worn and signed by Kobe Bryant in the first away game of the Lakers' 2001-02 Championship season, with rock-solid provenance. Adidas Kobe II footwear has size 14 tagging in tongues, and is solid dark gray, with the famed Adidas stripes cleverly tucked into the instep. Each sneaker is signed in gold paint pen, and the right one includes the inscription, "11/1/01 39 Points," referring to his performance against the Utah Jazz in a 105-101 victory. 39 points ended up being Kobe's second highest scoring total of the season, only to his 56-point performance on January 14th. Enclosed letter from a former Jazz ball boy, who developed a relationship with many visiting players and had these gifted by the Black Mamba himself. While Kobe's star was still on the rise, the '01-02 campaign was significant as the Lakers captured their third consecutive championship, and Kobe went on to MVP honors in that season's All-Star Game in Philadelphia. Light but definite use shown, includes extensive photo-matching dating to that game and comes with LOAs from both the ball boy, and JSA. Bryant appeared in an incredible 18 NBA All-Star Games (second only to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 19), and with four ASG MVPs under his belt, that award was renamed posthumously to honor the fallen icon. In presentation, provenance, and content, it is hard to overstate how significant this lot is.
