12/19/76 Sex Pistols Electric Circus Original Large Format Concert Poster
Amazing original 1976 large format poster heralding a live performance by punk rock pioneers The Sex Pistols. Measuring 41x27.5", the poster promotes a "Sun (December) 19th" performance at Electric Circus in Manchester, highlighting their first single under EMI records, Anarchy in the U.K. Six small tack holes surround the border - one at each corner plus top and bottom middle - and there are some light tears to the edges. Considering that this is on heavy paper stock (as opposed to card stock), it remains in tremendous condition, with the central image remaining bright and colorful. Though they were still something of a niche band, the Pistols exploded into notoriety due to a profanity-laced television interview that aired just weeks before this very performance, creating large headlines across the UK and establishing their place as chaos agents of the rock genre. Poster is in VG-EX condition due to the edge tears and holes, but this would remain an exceptional piece if framed for display.
