1847 Boxing Letter - One of the Earliest Known

1847 Boxing Letter - One of the Earliest Known

Here's an overactive three-page letter and response from vacationing citizen "W. Smith" who was accosted by "two noted prize fighters of the names of McDonald and George Hall, the latter known also by the name of Morley. They are training for a fight near Brighton (England)." Tons of detail on how "depraved" they are and he wants them arrested and the fight "prevented." Response is written on following page and returned from "J.H. Chase Chief of Police." It states that Chase knows them, knows where to find them, but "no complaint has ever reached me of their conduct before." In EX-MT condition.
