Imperial looking image of an unidentified pre-Civil War militiaman encapsulated in a copper plate, as were most daguerreotypes. Mirror creates a hologram-type of effect. This unique type of image does not involve a negative. This daguerreotype has never been cleaned; there is some blotching from the gilt.
