1860s Stereocards (150) from Providence, Rhode Island in Double Stereopticon Cabinet
Wonderful collection of fresh and UNPICKED stereo views and cabinet viewers recently came out of a house in Providence, Rhode Island. There are about 150 stereocards, overall EX, including: A) 1866 image of A.E. Alden’s Photographer’s. Two amazing U.S. flag banners are advertising tintypes and CdV’s. Marvelous! (1). C) Six Decoration Day cards circa 1867 just following the Civil War. Actually they could be the first one as it to was in Upstate New York and cards match others from 1866-67. One card marked Homer, New York. A new Civil War monument is being honored and people have come from many towns with banners welcoming the, (fire companies). Great images of solemn firemen with engines, men in full regalia with axes, and more. (6). A) Rare locally done Providence 1866-67 downtown businesses, Main Street, churches, Providence Hotel, Railroad Depot, Steamboat “Glen Haven,” and 1866 balloon tethered at the “Depot Exchange” (patriotic eagle image with lettering “Mon_.).” (10). D) Rest of the other better stuff includes silver mining train at Pike’s Peak, Centennial Exposition (3), Nantucket 1873, and sewing lady. (6). E) More humdrum stuff (130, all photographic) w/world views, landscapes by Anthony, Rough Riders, Hawaii, The Bowery, railroad & trolley, and 1860s stuff. Total of over 150 stereocards. F) Victorian stereoptic cabinet is lovely. 12.5x15x5.25” complete with two handheld viewers in like new condition receptacles for the cards. Box is red velvet lined and EX.
