Western Union Telegraph 1871 Stock Ticker

Western Union Telegraph 1871 Stock Ticker

This is one of Thomas Edison's early inventions the Universal Stock Ticker and Edison's first commercial success in the early 1870s. It is actually marked "Universal Ticker" and "22 Ohms" so we can actually date it to 1871 thru 1874. The stock ticker is encased in the original glass bell jar that originally housed the ticker. Because the glass originally fit into a stand (which we do not have and almost never comes with the ticker), the jar does not fit perfectly. There were only 5000 of these units made, thus this early version is exceedingly rare. Ticker needs a cleaning but otherwise is in excellent condition.
