1864 Abraham Lincoln Signed Military Commission (PSA)

1864 Abraham Lincoln Signed Military Commission (PSA)

Historic Civil War Lincoln signature. Abraham Lincoln signed military commission appointing George Warner to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Counter-signed by Edwin Stanton, as Secretary of War. Also signed by Edward Townsend in the docketing area at upper left. One page, original folds, one bisecting the blue wafer seal. Washington, 1 August 1864. The commission was signed "in the city of Washington." Signatures are faded, Lincoln's very light but legible. Near conclusion, the commission reads, "This commission to continue in force during the pleasure of the President of the United States for the time being." The August 1, 1864, date makes this signature date from the Civil War. Excellent condition. Comes with PSA LOA.
