An artifact from the earlier days of baseball, this stately silver pitcher from an 1867 tournament in Maine and was awarded to the Athletic Club for Best Fielding. As reported in the accompanying news articles from The Ball Players chronicle (12th Issue, Volume 1), the Maine Tournament in Portland drew approximately 3,000 people. The pitcher, which is quote heavy and measures a foot from top to bottom, features an intricate, stylized tile design and a shield that lists the names of the nine players from the honored team.
