1887 Allen & Ginter Cap Anson SGC 60
The story of Adrian C. Anson runs parallel to the development of the game of baseball into our national pastime. In 1871, as a 19 year old rookie, Cap joined the Rockford Forest Citys of the National Association and during five seasons would hit over .350 four times. With the end nearing for the NA he would sign on with William Hubert and his newly founded National League in 1876. During the next 22 years as a White Stocking he would hit over .300 all but two times, leading the league in four times in batting as well as RBI’s. Over that time his innovative play and managing style revolutionized baseball and popularized the sport worldwide while raising the caliber of players through his own integrity and principles. Cap would go on to become one of the original members elected to the Hall of Fame in 1939. We are proud to offer his exquisite Allen & Ginter World Champions tobacco card. Considered throughout the hobby to be the one of the most attractive cards ever produced, this is no exception. His strong image, filled with rich color stands out against the snow-white background framed by four nicely shaped corners. The verso shows only the lightest of toning and is otherwise spotless. Graded EX by SGC.
