1888 Detroit Wolverine Baseball Currency

1888 Detroit Wolverine Baseball Currency

The Detroit Wolverines' stock was never higher than in 1888 as they were the defending World Series champions. This advertising currency resembles real money and was created to "capitalize" on the team's success, if you will. The front features advertising for the Phoenix Building shoe store. The reverse reveals wood-cut photos of the team including Dan Brouthers and Deacon White. There is a small chip out of one side and one small tear. The reverse image is slightly off center.
