1888 R&S Artistic Series Die-Cuts Collection Of 8

1888 R&S Artistic Series Die-Cuts Collection Of 8

The collection of die cuts known as the ‘R & S Artistic Series’ is thought to have first appeared in 1888. These 19th Century die cuts were intended to show uniform styles rather than specific players. They range slightly in individual dimensions. Widths are between 1” and 1-5/8” while the heights are between 2” and 3”. They were originally sold by themselves, rather than as a product insert. This grouping has 8 of the 10 figures manufactured, mounted on double sided cardboard (9-1/4 X 8-1/2”). Face shows them all aligned on a rendition of the base paths. All are lightly embossed and crisply detailed, and each fellow has a handlebar moustache. Under each figure, in pencil, is the city his uniform represents; Indianapolis, Chicago, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, St Louis, Pittsburg (misspelled) and New York. This offered set is NRMT.
