1889-1920 Theatrical Scrapbook Collection (18 Volumes)
Incredible archive created by a society woman who was an immaculate scrapbooker. Much devoted to theater, but there is a lot more. Most pages feature a handbill or program page/cover from the show & an image devoted to the stars. Hundreds of pages of the greatest actors in history: Edwin Booth (1889), The Barrymores, Sarah Bernhardt (1891), George M. Cohan & more. There are many important productions: Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Hunchback & Abraham Lincoln. There are over a thousand pages with all kinds of stuff: Buster Brown theatrical show with rare Richard Outcault ad card, Bert Williams in blackface Charlie Chaplin, many postcards with real photos, 1914 B50 program, 1918 Ziegfield Follies, Barnum & Baileys Circus, maps, great lithos (NC Wyeth, Jessie Wilcox Smith, Rackham), 1918 WWI menu for troops going overseas, and an amazing 1911 Thurston the Magician show flyer. There are even some neat sports things: 1905 football play "Strongheart", 1914 Harvard cadet football program cover with ticket, and 1913 Giants at Boston baseball program montage. There are many real photos, mostly theatrical with some truly beautiful stuff.
