First we have seen, this English cast iron mechanical bank is in the genre of "Darktown Battery," similar age to this one, 1895. Made by John Harper Company, Willenhall, England, it is commonly referred to as the "English Football" bank with this wording, lettering raised and imprinted right on the field. Wonderful action depicts a soccer player attempting a penalty kick. His leg is cocked back and set to a post behind; click the post and it SCORES (a coin). Some paint loss, but the metal is perfect and it works like a charm. Along with "Darktown Battery" (politically incorrect baseball) and "Calamity" (American football) one of the few sports-themed banks ever created, and this is one of the best.
