1890s James J. Corbett Partially Signed Oval Photograph in Original Frame - Donated by Corbett to the Helms Museum
This stunning portrait of a legendary pugilist was donated by Gentleman Jim Corbett to the Helms Museum and originally came with two identification tags (no longer here), which are mentioned in the letter from Helms. They were engraved, "RETURN TO JAS. J. CORBETT THE LAMBS CLUB NEW YORK U.S.A." Corbett is shown in his stage dress in full formal attire. Oval frame measures 14.5x8.5" and this Type 1 photo was cut down in size as there is a partial signature which once read, "Yours Truly James J. Corbett." Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Museum.
