1897 Boston Royal Rooters Souvenir Pin

1897 Boston Royal Rooters Souvenir Pin

Back when no one had ever heard of Babe Ruth, the Boston Beanaeters of Kid Nichols and Jimmy Collins fame had a rabid fan base who traveled to see the club play away from New England. This pin from those loyal Boston "Royal Rooters" was proudly worn during a crucial road series in Baltimore from September 24-27, according to the back. Boston took the series, two games to one, including a 19-10 slugfest in the rubber game. The Beaneaters entered the series a half-game ahead of the Orioles and eventually won the National League flag by a mere two games. Yes, both clubs were in the NATIONAL League at the time.
