1897 Corbett and Fitzsimmons Souvenir Coins and 1889 John L. Sullivan Cabinet Card
These coins hail from the great battle of Bob Fitzsimmons vs. James Corbett. The coins appear to be made of brass, and are VG-EX with some tarnishing. The front of one coin says, "Jas. J. Corbett", while the front of the other coin says, "Rob't Fitzsimmons". The backs of the two coins are identical, and read, "Souvenir, Corbett-Fitzsimmons Contest, for the Championship of the World, Carson City, Nev. March 17, 1897. Also included in the lot is this lovely cabinet card of Boston Strongboy John L. Sullivan from the late nineteenth century. Measuring 4.25" x 6.375", the gold-edged cabinet displays a clear image. Exhibiting only minor corner, this cabinet card in outstanding condition will appease any boxing aficionado.
