1897 James Corbett vs. Robert Fitzsimmons Serving Tray
James Corbett and Robert Fitzsimmons duked it out in a famous bout on St. Patrick's Day of 1897 in Carson City, Nevada, and this metal serving tray is an exquisite souvenir etched with images of the fighters and their specifications. Manufactured by Carpathian Silver Tray Co. of New York, there is slight wear, adding a nice patina. The tray measures 14" x 10.5" and is in close to EX condition. The famous fight was the subject of the world's first documentary film, "The Corbett-Fitzsimmons Fight," of which only fragments remain.
