/19/82 Donnie Shell "Two Interception" Pittsburgh Steelers Game Worn Jersey (Davious Photo-Matched LOA & Steelers COA)

Pittsburgh Steelers home jersey worn by Hall of Fame safety Donnie Shell in 1982. Accompanied by a COA from the Pittsburgh Steelers and an LOA from Davious Sports, which has photo-matched the jersey to one worn by Shell on September 19, 1982, in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in which he recorded two interceptions. The black Dureen jersey features the number "31" on the front, reverse, and each shoulder. "Shell" is lettered upon a black nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters are applied in gold tackle twill, while all numerals are applied in white tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a "Medalist/Sand-Knit 46" label, an "82" year tag, and a second "Medalist/Sand-Knit" label that reads in part "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Pittsburgh Steelers." The Steelers "50th Anniversary" patch, which once adorned the left shoulder, has been removed, but the outline of its former location can be clearly seen on interior of the jersey. (The removal of the patch most likely indicates that either the jersey was worn the following season, or was intended for use the following season.) Except for the patch removal, the jersey is original as issued and displays extensive use, including numerous team repairs, loose threads, abrasions, and scuffs.

As noted earlier, Shell had two interceptions in the game against the Bengals on September 19, 1982, which helped lead the Steelers to a 26-20 overtime win against the defending AFC champions. Donnie Shell was one of the greatest defensive backs in team history and a member of the Steelers' legendary "Steel Curtain Defense" of the 1970s. Shell helped lead the Steelers to four Super Bowl Championships during his 14-year career (1974-1987). Included among his many achievements and accomplishments are three First Team All-Pro selections, five Pro Bowl appearances, 51 career interceptions, and selections to both the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor and Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team. Shell is also a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. COA from the Pittsburgh Steelers and LOA from Davious Sports.
