1903 Boston Pilgrims World Series Royal Rooters Pin

1903 Boston Pilgrims World Series Royal Rooters Pin

One of the finest, most valuable pins in the world, it features the world famous team shot of the 1903 Boston Red Sox at the 1903 World Series (inside the Huntington Avenue Grounds), with the Boston Royal Rooters fan club in the stands behind them. The "Cranks", as they were also known, played an important role in Boston's World Championship victory, heckling Pittsburgh's superstar Honus Wagner so badly that he was never able to get into a hitting groove. A monumental pin in more than one sense, this was produced from the first official World Series in Major League history. 11 players in the starting line-up for the upstart Boston Red Sox are pictured sitting in the front row including the veteran 28-game winner, Cy Young, who propelled the Pilgrims to an 11-2 runaway in Game 5. Boston went on to upset the Pirates who had just won their third consecutive pennant. Obtained directly from the granddaughter of one of the founding members of the Royal Rooters. A true museum piece, this is the only one known to exist. NRMT condition.
