1904 Charles Mitchell Signature w/Oversized Cabinet Photo (PSA)
Charley Mitchell participated in well over 100 fights during his career, with both gloves and bare-knuckles. He was praised for often fighting men who were considerably larger and stronger. He rarely refused a fight challenge and was known to fight as many as four bouts in one night. One of the more memorable Mitchell fights took place in 1888 in Chatilly, France where he took on John L. Sullivan. In the driving rain, the fight lasted for well over two hours and was eventually considered a draw because each fighter was so beaten and tired, he simply couldn't hold his arms up any longer. From Charles Mitchell comes this outstanding large and inscribed signature. The cut reads, "Yours Truly, Charles Mitchell - Champion of England - April 8th 1904." Framed and matted with an equally impressive and over-sized Cabinet photo of Mitchell nicely dressed in coat and tie. Cabinet photo measures 7.5x13" and the whole collection measures 23x27" framed. Authenticated by PSA and comes with an LOA. <p>Size: 23x37"</p>
