1905 Philadelphia Athletics "Our Champions" Large Silk Banner
Spectacular silk shows these American League Champions in brilliant blue tint reminiscent of the S74 baseball card set. Except this is a huge piece framed to overall 27x22". Extremely high grade, this NM piece is extremely rare, this being one of only two known specimens. This example is from the William Mastro Collection, who is known for his obsession for pieces in high grade condition. In fact, this one is the finest known specimen. If this was in fact a commercial piece (it could have been made for players and VIPs) it was quite limited. It may even have been a premium of some kind. Bottom line, a perfect visual representation of these champions featuring among others Hall of Famers Eddie Plank, Chief Bender and Rube Waddell who easily won the pitching triple crown in that year with 27 wins, 287 strikeouts, and a meager 1.48 earned run average.
